  1. Origin of vanarus leather.

You may know well about Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand vanarus leather, so on. Therefore, a question may be raised: we are surrounded by many kinds of vanarus leather, so what is the reason for importing expensive vanarus leather far away? Actually, raw vanarus leather is mainly imported from Indonesia, Malaysia. These are two big vanarus storages of South East Asia. We can recognize this easily via its certificate of origin in each piece of leather. But why do we import it from Spain? The answer is its quality. Qualified raw material doesn’t mean the best quality. Tanning technology, tanning chemistry, strict and thorough quality- censoring process are important categories to make up a perfect leather.

  1. Classify

Vanarus is classified into hundreds of types, however, there are only three main types: Teju Vanarus, originating from South Africa, it has minor square pattern and people use its belly leather. Nile vanarus – found mostly in Sudan. This vanarus has square and the most minor pattern among 3 kinds, but is the largest leather. It just has belly-cut form. Ring Vanarus – Vanarus Salvator: lives mainly in Indonesia, Malaysia. Ring Vanarus has minor circles lying among its back, which is different from two previous types. In its belly, there is square and small pattern, lying along belly. This vanarus can be cut both in back and belly. Imported vanarus is Ring lizard (Scientific name: Vanarus Salvator) – South East Asia Vanarus. Vanarus is a wild and need-to-be – protected- animal, belongs to group 2 in CITES list. Therefore, to import vanarus, CITES permission document is required, or else, it is impossible to get clearance.

        3. Dimension and suitability.

Vanarus leather’s dimension is from 24cm to 27cm. Nile vanarus is bigger than Ring vanarus. As a result, Nile is suitable for making big items such as handbag, tie, so on. Meanwhile, Ring is suitable for shoes, clutch, purse, watch strap, so on. This dimension also contributes to leather cost: the bigger the leather is, the more expensive the cost is. Small dimension means small vanarus, hardly being attached and affected by environmental factors. This is contrast to big size vanarus, and it also means rare vanarus and more expensive.

Vanarus leather in our stock ranges from 28 to 44 centimeters. Price is based on size: 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44, 45+. Vanarus’s thickness ranges from 0.4 to 0.6mm, thinner than most of other leathers – ideal thickness to make handicraft. Moreover, vanarus leather has low amount of calcium which makes it softer than alligator or ray leather. But thanks to it, vanarus leather is thin, soft and durable. In addition, low level of calcium will ease the process of bleaching and help to dye color evenly.

         4. Bleached/Non – Bleached and Finishes:

Vanarus leather dye in manually

Vanarus leather is divided into 2 types: bleached and non-bleached. (sometimes you can see semi-bleached).

To vanarus leather, bleaching means covering leather surface to eliminate scratches or dirt (to the Ring leather, it is circles) and brings about identical color on the leather. Bleaching is a complex and time and effort-consuming process, therefore, it will be more expensive compared to non-bleached one. Vanarus leather is divided in to type 1, type 2, 3, so on and same as alligator leather. Type 1 will be more expensive than other types. Finishes is normally matte – dim and glazed – polished. However, we can order other types like nubuck, garment and the highest class is dye in manually as demand.
